Multi Dwelling Units

Why is the Government switching?

Multi dwelling units (MDUs) are buildings such as flats, units and apartments. These types of buildings usually use a shared or master antenna TV (MATV) antenna system to receive television broadcast signals.

The switch from analog to digital TV may require the shared antenna system to be upgraded, or one to be installed, as part of the conversion process to ensure residents can continue to receive free-to-air TV after the analog signal switches off.

The following video provides information about MDUs, converting a shared antenna system, reception issues and how the switchover will be rolled out.
