What is the switch?

Subscription TV

Subscription TV (sometimes known as ‘pay TV’) is a paid service offered by companies such as Foxtel, Telstra, Optus and TransACT.

What do I get with subscription TV?

Subscription TV offers a larger variety of channels than free-to-air services. The number of channels available depends upon your subscription level. Subscriptions often include a set up fee and a regular payment, usually monthly.  Most subscription TV services include the installation of a satellite dish and set-top box. Some subscription TV services include a personal video recorder (PVR), allowing you to record, pause and rewind live TV.

Can I get digital free-to-air TV with subscription TV?

Your subscription TV provider will usually offer you digital free-to-air TV. If you’re considering subscription TV, check with the provider to find out which free-to-air channels you’ll be offered. Also, find out what will happen to your free-to-air channels if you end your contract.
